The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) goes into effect Jan. 1, 2020. The law will more strictly mandate adherence to specific data privacy requirements and give California consumers new rights relating to companies’ use and management of their personal information (PI). Since FordDirect has Dealer customers that conduct business in the state of California, we want you to know that our team members have spent considerable time learning the new regulations and how they affect our business practices, especially as we guide our Dealer customers through the transition as well.

A variety of internal and external resources have been made available to better help FordDirect team members understand the CCPA and how it may affect the work we do for our dealer customers. In addition, the CCPA law requires that FordDirect trains its employees on CCPA requirements. This training is in progress throughout the fall season.

Ensuring that our consumers’ data is used judiciously and securely is of critical importance to our business success. Understanding and being prepared for the CCPA supports this priority and keeps us in compliance with the law.
