The final numbers are in for FordDirect Cares’ 2017 Strike Out Duchenne campaign for Team Joseph, and following a match from Boston Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello, the campaign’s final impact from FordDirect-related giving will be $29,444. This exceeds both Ryan Miller’s 2017 goal of $25,000, as well as last year’s final FordDirect-related impact of $28,102.

A breakdown of the money raised is as follows:

  • Donations by FordDirect employees and contractors to Ryan Miller’s Crowdrise site raised $4,920; FordDirect matched $4,300 in employee donations, equaling $9,220.
  • Raffle ticket sales raised $1,060 and were matched completely by FordDirect, equaling $2,120.
  • Gamechangers coin collection donations raised $1,691 and were matched completely by FordDirect, equaling $3,382, sending the FordDirect total to $14,722.
  • Rick Porcello then matched the final FordDirect total, making the final FordDirect-related impact $29,444.

Of the $1,691 in Gamechangers coin collection donations, the finance/legal/human resources group won the team competition with $787 in donations, and will have the chance to enjoy a special team lunch. The product/marketing/strategy A-L team finished in second place with $429 in donations. The product/marketing/strategy M-Z side and customer service/operations tied for third with $157 each.

This year’s significant impact from FordDirect will lend considerable support to funding medical research to find a treatment or cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which affects nearly one of every 3,500 young boys – including Nathan Miller, son of FordDirect employee Ryan Miller. Again, thank you to all FordDirect team members for your overwhelming generosity in support of Team Joseph!
