FordDirect and its team members have a strong tradition of charitable giving through FordDirect Cares, having donated more than $75,000 to worthy causes over the last couple of years alone. Continuing this tradition, FordDirect Cares has announced it is hosting the third annual FordDirect Cares Charity Golf Outing on Monday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Mich.

This year’s outing will raise money for two causes that directly impact two of our employees and their families, as voted upon by a cross-section of employees on the company’s Culture Committee:

The Drew Crew

The Drew Crew is a non-profit organization focused on helping individuals and families that have suffered a spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury. The charity’s mission is to show that those who have suffered a catastrophic injury such as this can still live a complete and fulfilling life. The Drew Crew is capable of giving mentorship and guidance to individuals and families, as well as helping or facilitating a way to raise money for a specific need. It is named for Drew Clayborn, stepson of FordDirect employee Tracie Clayborn. Drew suffered a spinal cord injury in 2010, and the community’s outpouring of love and support then led to the formation of The Drew Crew.

Teen Hype

Since 2004, Teen HYPE (Helping Youth by Providing Education) has reached more than 35,000 Detroit-area youth through programming that assures every young person reaches their potential. Each year, hundreds of students in dozens of local schools are provided with adolescent health programs that emphasize future-oriented thinking, effective communication, and avoiding risky behaviors. Additionally, more than 600 teens have been trained as Peer Educators who are dedicated to community service, social justice, and risk avoidance. Each year, Teen HYPE youth develop an original stage production focused on a riveting social issue, reaching over 3,000 students and adults in the community. FordDirect employee Muddasar Tawakkul serves on the board of Teen HYPE.

FordDirect Cares’ Charity Golf Outing is open to everyone, including FordDirect employees, non-employee resources (NERs), suppliers, customers and anyone else who is interested in helping FordDirect raise money for charity. FordDirect will donate $25 per golfer to be split between the charity beneficiaries.

Outing Information

The golf outing information is below and attached via the promotional poster; and the event registration site is located at FordDirectCares.com. The outing will have a four-person scramble format with registration starting at 8 a.m. and a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Non-golfers that would like to participate can register to attend just the dinner, which will be served around 2:30 p.m.

Ticket prices are the following:

  • Golfer - $100 per person
  • Dinner Attendee - $30 per person

Participants can register a team/foursome but will need to designate one person from the team to register everyone at the same time. That person will be able to add up to three additional people and will need to pay for all tickets at the end of registration. The registration deadline is Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019.

Golf or dinner tickets are not tax deductible. If you would like to give a tax deductible donation, please donate directly to the aforementioned charities.

Sponsorships Available

Due to sellout success last year, we are bringing back the supplier sponsorships, but increasing the cost to $2,000 each. The sponsorship package includes registration for a golf foursome, on-course sign promotion, recognition during the event opening remarks and at the dinner, and more. Due to our company compliance policy, employees should refrain from direct solicitation of suppliers and should instead direct suppliers who are interested to Jennifer Flowers-Kolf.

Please contact FDCares@forddirect.com with any questions about the outing or the available sponsorships.
